Packed House for BCA Winter Bike Commuting Clinic
Last Wednesday, I hosted a winter bike commuting clinic at REI, and had a great response. About sixty people showed up, and there were a lot of great questions. Folks had some great comments and we all shared winter riding tips. When the subject of keeping the street side paths clear of snow for cyclists and pedestrians came up, one audience member said he works for the city on snow maintenance, and recently heard from his management that the street side paths will be maintained at the same level of quality as they were last year. This was great news for me, as I’ve been concerned about the impact of budget cuts on those basic services. Having a maintained trail makes a big difference when you depend on your bike for transportation throughout the winter!
