A co-worker showed me a route from my work to the Midnight Sun Brewing Company. I had never considered that it would be an easy, low-traffic, fun ride. It just goes to show that the more you ride around Anchorage the more you discover these hidden right-of-ways and short cuts . I appreciated that my co-worker shared this bit of local knowledge  so I wanted to pass it along. I hope you find this video useful and you are inspired to share your ‘secret routes’.

Great Video. I can actually show you a few more cut-throughs, although one of them involves bushwhacking along a fence. Bikers unite! Micheal Franti and Sockeye Red IPA are the best.

We could do part 2 the “What I Be- Ale Slayer” version

    nice work damian

Anchorage can take some quirky navigating to travel around safely. this is a great way of sharing how we can get from point A to B and stay off major arterials and ride through quiet traffic neighborhoods via all the great cut-thrus — especially when Point B is a place like the Midnight Sun Brewery.

    Prost!

I like the video. Made me thirsty.

great flick Damian. That would be a totally fun winter ride as a BCA event. Maybe you and the camera crew could be our leaders…… what a great way to build up an appetite for a brewskie.

Regarding how I discovered this route: “necessity is the mother of invention.”

(But, come to think of it, maybe thirst is the mother of invention…)

This is great, I live off Stanford and use the same cut through over to McInnes alot but had no idea I could get to such a desirable place like this so easily….looking foward to a “test” ride to Midnight Sun this weekend!

  8. Damian says:

Thanks Howard. Yeah, there is definitely motivation involved.

Thanks Damien, I’m in LA at the moment, so appreciated seeing some of my regular routes on here. There really are lots of side streets and trails and passage ways all over Anchorage like this that make biking around much easier than it would be if you stayed on streets like Northern Lights all the time. Thanks for the fun video.

Obviously not in a hurry. Pretty roundabout was of getting there. yay bike videos though!
